Body Scan & Body Composition Analysis

Body Composition Analysis (BCA) at MedSmart Wellness Centers is a method of determining your levels of fat mass and lean muscle. The results provide an accurate picture of your health and can be used to create a personalized weight-loss plan.

BCA is more accurate than using a scale and provides a variety of valuable information. Results include:

  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Color images distinguishing fat, lean and bone mass
  • Fat Mass Index (FMI)
  • Percent Body Fat

How do you prepare?

No preparation is required for this test.

What can you expect during/after the test?

You will be required to lie on your back for three to five minutes while we use an extremely low and safe dose of radiation to measure the distribution of fat versus lean muscle in the body. This test is completely painless.

This test offers same-day results and compares your data to previous scans in order to measure your body composition progress.

Prescription Appetite Suppressants

Health care providers use the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a measure of your weight in relation to your height, to define overweight and obesity. People who have a BMI between 25 and 30 are considered overweight. Obesity is defined as having a BMI of 30 or greater. Being overweight or obese may increase the risk of health problems. Your health care provider can assess your individual risk due to your weight.

Obesity is a chronic condition that affects more than one in three adults in the United States. Another one in three adults is overweight. If you are struggling with your weight, you may find that a healthy eating plan and regular physical activity help you lose weight and keep it off over the long term. If these lifestyle changes are not enough to help you lose weight or maintain your weight loss, your doctor may prescribe medications as part of your weight-control program.

How do weight-loss medications work?

Prescription medications to treat overweight and obesity work in different ways. For example, some medications may help you feel less hungry or full sooner. Other medications may make it harder for your body to absorb fat from the foods you eat.

What are the benefits of using prescription medications to lose weight?

When combined with changes to behavior, including eating and physical activity habits, prescription medications may help some people lose weight. On average, people who take prescription medications as part of a lifestyle program lose between 3 and 9 percent more of their starting body weight than people in a lifestyle program who do not take medication. Research shows that some people taking prescription weight-loss medications lose 10 percent or more of their starting weight.1 Results vary by medication and by a person.

Weight loss of 5 to 10 percent of your starting body weight may help improve your health by lowering blood sugar, blood pressure, and triglycerides. Losing weight also can improve some other health problems related to overweight and obesity, such as joint pain or sleep apnea. Most weight loss takes place within the first 6 months of starting the medication.

Peptides

Peptides are like mini-proteins. Peptides and proteins are both made up of amino acids; roughly speaking, anything under 50 amino acids is a peptide, while anything larger than 50 amino acids is a protein.

Certain peptides have been shown to be effective in a number of ways to support weight loss. Several have a history of use as appetite suppressants, which together with diet and exercise, may help patients lose weight.

Certain peptide hormones also stimulate the pituitary gland to produce more natural growth hormones. Growth hormone helps keep your metabolism turning over at a good rate, promotes fat loss — especially around the troublesome middle area — and increases muscle mass. We naturally produce more of it when we are younger, so if you want to be able to shed pounds like you used to, the solution may be encouraging your body to produce its youthful level of growth hormone. Growth hormone also assists with cell repair and renewal in virtually every system in the body to help protect your overall health.

Lipotropic Injections

Lipotropic injections are shots designed to accelerate weight loss for those who are obese, overweight, or want to maintain their weight. This can be done on its own or in combination with a formal weight loss program which includes dietary education, medication if needed, and follow-ups every 1 to 2 weeks with our nurse practitioner or board-certified obesity medicine physician. Patients will receive weekly B12 and MIC injections that help with energy levels and aids in the weight loss process. Not only do lipotropic and B12 injections help you lose weight and keep it off, but you will also have more energy, minimize water gain, accelerate fat metabolism and your hair and skin will look and feel healthier.

B12 injection packages-B12 can help increase energy and metabolism. B12 is an essential vitamin and is critical for optimal metabolic functioning and thus can help accelerate your weight loss. If you’re looking to optimize your B12 levels in the Greenfield and OakCreek area, call us today!

MIC injection packages-MIC injections stand for L-Methionine, Inositol, and choline. These are lipotrophic agents which help with the breakdown of fat during metabolism in the body. These are commonly referred to as “fat-burning” injections.

Vitamin D injection packages–Vitamin D is also an essential vitamin in weight loss. Low levels of vitamin D are associated with weight gain, and higher levels can help you lose weight in addition to helping with fatigue, energy, muscle aches, depressive symptoms, and overall well-being and immune system health. If you tend to be lower in vitamin D, call us today to have your levels checked and start taking vitamin D injections to improve your well-being!

B12 Injections

Vitamin B-12 is a water-soluble B complex vitamin found naturally in a variety of foods, including meat, fish, and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 is also added to some foods and is available as a dietary supplement. Vitamin B-12 injections are commonly prescribed to help prevent or treat pernicious anemia and B-12 deficiency.

Some weight-loss clinics offer vitamin B-12 injections as part of their weight-loss programs. Proponents of vitamin B-12 injections say the shots give you more energy and boost your metabolism, helping you shed unwanted pounds. But unless you have a vitamin B-12 deficiency, vitamin B-12 injections aren’t likely to give you an energy boost.

Metformin (Fortamet, Glucophage, Riomet) is a drug sometimes used as part of a weight-loss strategy for people with type 2 diabetes. Vitamin B-12 deficiency can be a side effect of this drug. If you take metformin, talk to your doctor about strategies to maintain adequate B-12 levels.

Getting large amounts of vitamin B-12 through vitamin B-12 injections isn’t likely to harm your health. But vitamin B-12 can interfere with the effectiveness of some medications, so if you receive vitamin B-12 injections, be sure to let your doctor know.

If you’re hoping to lose weight, resist the lure of quick and easy solutions. What counts is a healthy lifestyle. Enjoy healthier foods in appropriate quantities and include physical activity in your daily routine.
